Autumn Reflections - Chasing Hope

A few quotes to guide us as the leaves fall and the winds turn cold.

I chose my cast, a march brown and a dun, and ran down to the river, chasing hope.
Wilfred S. Blunt
A New Pilgramage (1889)

The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of something that is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope.
John Buchan (1875-1940)

Fishing, in my estimation, is not a hobby, a diversion, a past time, a sport, an interest, a challenge, or an escape. It is a necessary passion.
Russell Chatam
Dark Waters (1988)

A necessary passion with occasions for hope.
Not bad amigos; not bad.

  1. Buddha,

Great quotes, and even better seeing you posting again! Passion is about right!

I can tell you that every fall is a bittersweet time for me. It brings two things: large hatches of october caddis and loads of hungry trout on the McKenzie and Willamette Rivers in Oregon, and the start of basketball season. Difficult for those two entities to co-exist....

At least the autumn colors are beautiful!

Hope things are well with you my friend.

  2. Thanks Duck Angler - I know all to well the feeling of juggling the schedule you are on right now. Man! October caddis on the McKenzie and Willamette - might call for a "sick" day!
    Take care,
